Velma Ann G. McLendon, 66, a lifelong resident of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on January 22, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born on July 2, 1958, in Kingsville, Texas, to Jesus and Tomasita Garcia, Velma lived a life rooted in faith, love, and community. A retired cashier with Speedy Stop and 7-Eleven, she was known for her warm smile and kind heart, which left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Velma was a woman of unwavering faith who found joy in sharing her love with family and friends. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and delighted in the laughter and bonds created over the years.
She is preceded in death by her beloved brother, Juan Jose Garcia.
Velma's memory will live on in the hearts of her son, Lucas (Rae) McLendon of San Diego,Texas; her cherished granddaughters, Hailey and Avery, who brought immense joy to her life; her devoted siblings, Jesus M. (Adriana) Garcia of Kingsville, Alberto Rene (Maria) Garcia of Moreno Valley, California, David G. (Hilda) Garcia of Kingsville, Guadalupe G. Garcia, Noelia Garcia Cantu of Riviera, and Belinda Garcia Salazar of Kingsville; and her sister-in-law, Maria Garcia of Alice. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives she touched in countless ways.
A special thank you goes to her loving niece, Lori Garcia Prado of Kingsville, whose care and support were a source of comfort and strength.
In honor of Velma's wishes, a cremation will take place, and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
