Obituary

Sister Jovita Mendez Diaz, age 87, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 in Kingsville, Texas.
She was born on January 14, 1927 in Lerdo, Durango, Mexico to Pedro and Maria Mendez.
Sister Jovita was involved in her religious life for 67 years. She served our Lord in Taft, TX, Robstown, TX, Kingsville, TX, Sunnyside, WA, and New Jersey as a C.C.D. teacher and an elementary teacher as well. She was the best reading remedial teacher. Sister Jovita loved to sing and play the guitar. She praised our Lord always. She even sang to our Lord and blessed mother a few days ago before she lost her speech.
Survivors include three brothers, Angel D. Mendez of Lerdo, Durango, Mexico, Pedro R. Mendez of Downey, California, and Jose Encarnacion Mendez of Orange, California and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be held on Tues., 02-04-14 at 7:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wed., 02-05-14 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martins Catholic Church with Father Naul Ordonez officiating.
A Cremation will follow and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
