Obituary

Sandra Salinas Cortez, 72, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away February 24, 2023, in Kingsville, Texas.
She was born on December 20, 1950, in Kingsville, Texas to Andres and Rita Salinas.
She began teaching CCD in 1964 in the small structure building, assisting Sister Narcissa, and continued until 2022 to become Assistant Director of the program (58 years).
She worked at Perry's 5 + 10 from 1964 to 1969. Sandra was a Campaign Hope Representative at St. Martin Church in 1967 and a Girl Scout Troop Leader from 1988 to 1993. She graduated from Gulf Coast Stevenson Beauty College in 1970. She worked in a total of 15 salons until her retirement in 2019, which included her very own salon-Sandra's Hair Co. Sandra was a representative for Mary Kay Cosmetics, Amway, and Home Interior.
She traveled to the Holy Land with Nativity Pilgrimage in 2016 with St. Martin Church and other churches in surrounding areas. She was assistant director for the Hurricane Harvey shelter in 2017 and assisted in the 2020 Presidential Election campaigning.
She is preceded in death by her beloved dog, Lulu.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Mike Cortez of Kingsville; three daughters, Mika Cortez of Round Rock, Simonett, Cortez of Kingsville, and Ashly (Wayne) Cortez-Leulu of Corpus Christi; one son, A.B. Cortez of Kingsville; four sisters, Rose (Teo) Farias, Lupita Molina, Lucy Salinas Contreras, and Patsy (Raul) Soliz; four brothers, Andy (Rosie) Salinas, David (Cris) Salinas, Ricky (Gina) Salinas, and Johnny Salinas: ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 10:00 a.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Martin Catholic Church with Father Alfredo Villarreal officiating.
A Cremation will follow and a Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
