On Tuesday, June 12, 2018, Ruby June Thornberry of Kingsville passed away at the age of 92 years. Ruby was born at Gum Hollow, near Taft, Texas in San Patricio County on September 25, 1925. She was the youngest of three daughters born to John William and Johnnie Mae Vickers Roark. She is survived by her two brothers, Bill and Jimmy King, four of her children: Russell, Barbara, John and Matthew Thornberry, as well as eight grandchildren: Michelle Patterson, Darren Thornberry, Holly Fedorko, Janna Thornberry, Erin Patchell, Carl Howard, Sarah Crenwelge and Bryan Thornberry, eighteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Visitation was held June 18th at Ramirez - Salinas Funeral Home in Kingsville, Texas with a graveside service following at Seaside Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas on June 19th with Pastor Ulmer- St. Paul Lutheran, Bishop officiating. She was laid to rest beside the grave of her second-born son, David Allen Thornberry. Ruby's long life spanned The Great depression and the WWII effort being of the greatest generation. She lived in the Corpus Christi area most of her life working as a house parent at Coastal Bend Youth City for many years and then later managing apartments. She resided at the Kingsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the last six years and was a joy to those she encountered.
