Obituary

Rosalina "Rosie" B. Esquivel, 89, of Kingsville, Texas, peacefully entered eternal rest on January 25, 2025, in her beloved home.

Born on October 25, 1935, in Bishop, Texas, to Salvador and Petra G. Barrera, Rosalina was a shining example of grace, faith, and devotion. A retired homemaker, she dedicated her life to her family and community with unwavering love and compassion.

As a devout member of St. Martin's Catholic Church, Rosalina lived her faith through service and kindness. For many years, she and her husband were active members of the Mr. and Mrs. Social Club, a group devoted to community social involvement, education, and family values. Her beautiful smile and demeanor made her a source of comfort and joy to all who knew her.

Rosalina had a unique gift for making everyone feel like family, earning her the titles of honorary grandma, tia, and second mom to countless individuals. She was a patient and attentive listener, always ready to share her pearls of wisdom. She celebrated the milestones and achievements of her children and grandchildren with pride and encouragement, cherishing every moment spent with them.

Though not a sports expert, Rosalina's heart was devoted to cheering on the Texas Rangers and the Texas Longhorns.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Filemon "Phil" V. Esquivel; her brothers, Gilberto (Daisy†) Barrera, and Salvador Barrera Jr.; and her great-grandson, Ethan Daniel Esquivel.

Rosalina's legacy lives on through her loving family: her daughter, Rose Ann (Eric) Cardona; five sons, Heriberto (Dalia) Esquivel, Ben Esquivel, David (Michelle) Esquivel, Filemon B. (Christina) Esquivel Jr., and Michael (Drusilla) Esquivel; her sisters, Adelina Canales and Angie B. (Art) Winget; sister-in-law, Ernestina Barrera; eighteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude.
