Rolando Mercado, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on February 23, 2026, in his beloved hometown. He was 87 years old.
Born on May 1, 1938, in Kingsville, Texas, Rolando was the cherished son of Adan and Juanita Mercado. He grew up in Kingsville, where he formed deep and lasting bonds with family and friends.
Rolando was a retired service mechanic with Goodyear and Integrity Services and a proud U.S. Marine Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus #2623.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amada Mercado, and two sisters, Alma Puente and Gloria Powell.
Survivors include one sister, Frances (Manuel) Narvaez of Corpus Christi; ten nieces and nephews: Orlando Narvaez, Priscilla Griggs, Andrea Puente, Bennie Marroquin, Sylvia Ochoa, Grace Bustillos, Melva Soto, Lisa Jimenez, Cindy Rodriguez, and Laura Contreras; as well as several cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 8:00 a.m .until 11:00 a.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church with Father Alfredo Villarreal officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Gertrudis Memorial Cemetery.
Though Rolando may no longer walk among us, his spirit will live on in the memories we hold dear and the love that surrounds us always. May he rest in eternal peace.
