Richard L. Wymore, 79, of Kingsville, TX passed away on March 16, 2018 in Corpus Christi, TX.
He was born on September 30, 1938 in Aurora, Illinois to Lansen and Louise Wymore.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Donna Garcia.
Richard was a 24 year veteran of the United States Navy. He was stationed on bases on the east and west coasts and served on aircraft carriers all over the world for various calls of duty including the Vietnam War, ultimately retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 1981. After his military service, he earned an associate's degree in oil and gas technology. Called back to aviation, he began a second career as a supervisor for contract maintenance for jet aircraft from 1985 to 2000. Richard was a member of the Elk's Club and the Texas State Rifle Association, and a lifetime member of the VFW, the American Legion, National Rifle Association, National Chief Petty Officers Association, and the Fleet Reserve.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Virginia K. Wymore of Kingsville, TX; two sons, Michael (Rochelle) Wymore of Corpus Christi, TX, and David (Kristy) Mumme of San Antonio, TX; one daughter, Marcia (Jim) Robinson of Fort Worth, TX; Sandra Wymore, former spouse of Corpus Christi, TX; six grandchildren, Danielle (Xavier) Wymore, Brittany (Jacob) Hernandez, Samantha Robinson, Collin Robinson, Jackson Mumme, and Mason Mumme; one great-grandchild, Makenzie Howard; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home with full military honors by Kleberg County Funeral Detail.
