Raul Fernando Alaniz, age 47, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on January 4, 2026, in Kingsville, Texas.
Raul was born on December 24, 1977, in Kingsville, Texas, to Andres T. Alaniz Jr. and Rosa Alaniz, who were blessed with a child they loved deeply.
Raul was a gifted musician, academic, and philosopher. He lived his life spreading compassion and kindness to all who crossed his path. He found great joy in practicing piano, reading books of philosophy and religion, and engaging in thoughtful discussion with people of all backgrounds and persuasions.
Whether the topic was 1980s horror films, classical piano, or a comparison of Socrates and Plato, Raul's depth and breadth of knowledge made every conversation with him memorable, enlightening, and enjoyable. He was known for his open heart and his willingness to listen, always offering understanding and comfort to those in need. The love he shared with family and friends will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Andres T. Alaniz Jr.; his paternal grandmother, Cenovia "Chata" Alaniz; and his maternal grandfather, Raul Felan.
Raul is survived by his loving mother, Rosa Alaniz; his brothers, Andres (Dora) Alaniz III of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Gabriel (Ashlie) Alaniz of Corpus Christi, Texas; three nieces, Briana Santos, Amelia Alaniz, and Clara Alaniz; one nephew, Benjamin Alaniz; along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins who will cherish his memory.
A Rosary will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 9:20 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin Catholic Church. Interment will be held at Chamberlain Cemetery.
