Pedro "Pete" G. Chapa, 71, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on June 18, 2024 in his hometown.
Pete was born on May 19, 1953, in Kingsville, Texas, to Guillermo and Marta Chapa. He spent his entire life in his beloved hometown, creating lasting memories and building a legacy of service and dedication.
A proud and respected member of the community, Pete retired from the Kleberg County Sheriff's Department after a distinguished career. His commitment to public service and his community was evident in his work and the many lives he touched. Pete was also a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where he found solace and community. In his free time, Pete enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. He cherished spending time with his family and his beloved dog, Terri.
Pete is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Maria Del Rosario Chapa of Kingsville; and his five sons, Pedro Luis (Brenda) Chapa, Miguel Angel Chapa, Jorge Ryan Chapa, all of Kingsville, Patricio Chapa, and Pedro D. Chapa. He was a proud grandfather to his cherished grandson, Demian Chapa. Pete also leaves behind his sister, Mary Jane Chapa Mendietta of Kingsville; his two brothers, Guillermo (Esperanza) Chapa Jr. of McAllen and Daniel Chapa of Kingsville; along with several aunts, cousins, and nephews, who will all miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to join in prayer and remembrance.
A Funeral Mass to honor Pete's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Father Paulson officiating. Following the Mass, Pete will be laid to rest at Chamberlain Cemetery.
