Oralia (Lala) Gutierrez, age 90, a lifelong resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025.
She was born on June 28, 1935, in Kingsville, Texas to Jesus Gutierrez and Catarina Mendietta.
Lala was the happiest when surrounded by her family. For many years, until her retirement, she worked at Wal-Mart as a door greeter and in the garden center, where she enjoyed seeing and talking with customers and friends each day.
She devoted her time to supporting her loved ones in all their pursuits – whether it was cheering them on at sporting events, cooking, shopping, or taking trips to the casino. Lala especially loved traveling with family to places like Disney and Tennessee, and wherever the road would take them. Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed by all who know and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Gutierrez and Catarina Mendietta; her aunt, Tomasa Gutierrez; cousin, Eduardo (Elva) Cadena; and nephew, Estevan Cadena.
Lala is survived by her nieces, Ester (Tito) Rocha, and Rebecca Cadena; nephews, Eduardo (Gavanda) Cadena, and Enrique (Shelly) Cadena; and numerous great nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Santa Gertrudis Memorial Cemetery.
