Obituary

Ofelia Vera Garza, 82, met our Lord and Savior on May 2, 2021, at her home in Kingsville, Tx. She was born to Ernesto and Braulia Vera on April 21, 1939, in Rios, Tx.
Mrs. Garza was a retired teacher assistant with KISD and a member of St. Martin Catholic Church. Ofelia professed her faith in Jesus Christ when she attended her first Cursillo in the Spring of 1975. She maintained her involvement as a Cursillista by advancing to coordinator, while later working in a leadership role with the International Cursillo movement.
She is preceded in death by one brother and two sisters, Paul Vera, Domitila Vela, and Barbara Canales.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband of 60 years, Juan Garza Jr. of Kingsville, her daughter, Karla Jean (Lawrence) Alder, her son John (Eleanor Rose) Garza, both from San Antonio; four sisters and one brother, Ernestina Cardenas, Adela Hinojosa, Oralia Palacios, America Lopez, and Ernesto Vera Jr., as well as five grandchildren, Jeremiah, Jerrod, Dillon, Logan, and Ethan, and two great-grandchildren, Opal and Oliver, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 21 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 12:00 p.m.
A Memorial Mass will be held afterward at 2:00 p.m. at St. Martin Catholic Church with her beloved friend of over 35 years, Fr. Oscar Villalobos officiating.
