Mirta Garza Garcia, age 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 12, 2026, in Kingsville, Texas.

Born on November 23, 1946, in Bruni, Texas, to Juan Francisco and Maria de Jesus Garza, Mirta dedicated her life to her family and her faith. She was baptized on October 5, 1947, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Hebbronville, Texas.

She was a clerical worker in the oil and educational industries, as well as a homemaker who cherished caring for her family. Mirta “Mickey” was a member of Kingsway Family Church, where she was actively involved in the women’s ministry. She was a blessing to all who knew her. Being a wife, mom, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother brought her much joy. She was a cancer survivor/fighter for 29 years, even though they gave her only five years to live when she was diagnosed. She loved spending time with family. She always had a great attitude, loved God with all her heart, and trusted Him with every part of her life.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Maria Guadalupe Garza, Adelina Vasquez, Noelia Cantu, and Hortencia Vela; two brothers, Jose Guadalupe Garza and Homero Garza.

Survivors include her husband and life-long friend, Arnoldo Garcia; two daughters, Noemy Renee (Albert) Garcia, and Stacy Lee (Michael) Proske; one son, Leo Scott (Aracely) Garcia; eight grandchildren, James, Ryan, Emily, Jacob, Dalilah, Vanessa, Nathan, and Macy, six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Francisca (Lazaro †) Garcia, Alma Rios, and Maricela Ann (John) Bell; three brothers, Benjamin (Elda †) Garza (Aida), Serapio (Esther) Garza, and Juan Francisco (Susie) Garza, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
