Michael Joe Acuna

In the early hours of Tuesday, July 29, 2020, Michael Joe Acuna age 50 entered through Heaven’s gates and earned his wings. He was born in Kingsville on August 27, 1969 to Rene G. Acuna and Maria (Lupe) Cisneros Acuna. He graduated from H.M. King High School, Class of 1987. After high school, he attended Texas A&M University-Kingsville. He joined the US Army and was stationed in Hawaii throughout his assignment. Presently he was employed at John Crane Pasadena. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Jose and Bernarda A. Cisneros and paternal grandparents, Gilberto and Inez Acuna, Sister Jenny Acuna; Uncles Joe Cisneros Jr., Arnoldo Acuna; Aunt Marinela Guajardo; nephews Angel Noel Negron and Noel Rene Negron. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca G. Acuna; three sons, Joe Michael (Jesslyn) Acuna, John Acuna, Jacob Acuna; one daughter Cassandra N. Acuna; two grandsons, Elijah Acuna and Joseph Acuna and granddaughter, Gracelynn Acuna; stepchildren, Donaciano Rodriguez III, David A. Rodriguez, Mirabella E. Rodriguez. He is also survived by two sisters, Jennifer Acuna and Jessica Acuna, Uncle Luis Edwardo (Lynette) Acuna, Aunt Rosaena Acuna Suarez; nieces Stephanie Negron and Desiree Negron; nephew, Christian Negron; and numerous loving cousins and dear friends. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and unforgettable friend. He enjoyed life and friendship by keeping in touch, enjoying music, laughing continuously, using his well-known whistle, and remembering everyone who had been a part of his past and present. He had a favorite saying when he came across a friend using a whistle to get their attention followed by a big smile. In so many ways in every turn in his life he touched the lives of so many friends, their families, their lives. The beautiful memories he has left in our lives will ensure that he will never be forgotten. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin Catholic Church with Father Alfredo Villarreal. Burial will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery with complete military honors.
