Maria Alicia Vela, 77, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on January 31, 2026, in Kingsville.

She was born on August 5, 1948, in Kingsville, Texas, to Alfredo and Julia Garcia. Maria was a retired Registered Nurse who dedicated more than 45 years of service to the Kingsville community. She was a faithful member of St. Martin's Catholic Church. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with her loving sisters.

She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel E. Vela; two brothers, Severo "Sam" Garcia and Alfredo B. Garcia Jr.; and one sister, Yolanda Cavazos.

She is survived by her sons, Jason (Priscilla) Vela of Kingsville and Blui Garcia of Corpus Christi; her daughter, Krystal Ann Garcia of San Antonio; her daughter-in-law, Virginia Rodriguez-Vela of Corpus Christi; eight grandchildren, Victoria, John David, Hunter, Marcus, Snow, Ashton, Jace, and Renesme; two sisters, Grace (Roy †) Cavazos and Vilma (Robert) Deases; one brother, Alfredo "Tito" (Millie) Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her loyal canine companion, Mia, who was at her side until the end.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.

Cremation will follow, and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
