Maria Isabel Rios Moreno, age 72, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, in Austin, Texas.
Born on August 20, 1952, to the late Hermerijildo and Juanita Rios in Kingsville, Texas, Maria was a beloved pillar in her family, church, and community. Her passion for teaching and dedication to the students at Kingsville Independent School District left a lasting impact on countless young lives. Maria was not only an esteemed educator but also a steadfast member of St. Martin's Catholic Church, where her faith guided her life and actions. As a proud member of Catholic Daughter of Americas, Columbian Ladies, and Alter Society, she devoted time and energy to various parish initiatives and assisted in organizing numerous fundraisers to support the Knights of Columbus, St. Martin's School, H.M. King ROTC, and local band and mariachi programs. Her tireless dedication and kind spirit made her a cherished friend, mentor, and role model.
Maria was a loving wife, mother, aunt, daughter, sister, and caregiver who selflessly nurtured those around her, embodying warmth and compassion. Her legacy of love and generosity lives on in her family and community.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Diego and Teresa Sanchez, and Doroteo and Jesusita Rios; her beloved son, Florencio Moreno Jr.; and her sister, Sylvia Mejia.
Maria is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Florencio Moreno Sr.; her daughters, Maria Teresa Moreno and Maria Juanita Moreno of Kingsville; her son, Francisco Javier (Felizia) Moreno of Bossier City, Louisiana; her brothers, Hermerijildo "Herman" Rios Jr. and Jesus D. "Jessie" Rios of Kingsville; and her treasured grandchildren, Victoria, Izabella, Francisco Jr., Lisa, Miranda, and Roberto "Robby". She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever remember her warmth and wisdom.
Family and friends are invited to honor Maria's life on Saturday, November 2, 2024, with visitation from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, followed by a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will take place at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church, officiated by Father Alfredo Villarreal. Maria will be laid to rest at Chamberlain Cemetery.
