Maria Hilda Garza, age 97, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on June 18, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She was born on January 18, 1929, in Alamo, Texas.
Maria was a devoted homemaker and a faithful member of St. Martin's Catholic Church. She was actively involved in the St. Martin's Sacred Heart Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Rosary Society, the Amistad Club, the Sewing Club, and Alianza de Oro. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister and dedicated much of her life to serving her church and community.
Maria found great joy in helping the elderly and serving others. Alongside her husband, Luciano, she served as an ambassador and advocate for senior citizens throughout the State of Texas. She generously volunteered her time at two nursing homes and the local hospital, always offering compassion, kindness, and support to those in need. A woman of deep faith and a servant's heart, Maria was also the beloved matriarch of her family, providing love, guidance, and strength to generations. Her unwavering faith, dedication to others, and enduring kindness touched countless lives and will be remembered by all who knew and loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luciano B. Garza; four brothers, Alejandro, Eloy, Oscar, and Maria Jose; four sisters, Guadalupe, Amada, Dora, and Eulalia; and one daughter-in-law, Olga Garza.
Survivors include her beloved children: two daughters, Belinda (Ernest) Obregon of Corpus Christi and Diana (Danny) Tijerina of Corpus Christi; one son, David (Olga †) Garza of Pflugerville; seven grandchildren, Marisa, Lisa, Denise, Kimberly, Orlando, Miguel III, and David Lee; fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church, with Father Alfredo Villarreal officiating. Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
Maria will be remembered for her unwavering faith, compassionate heart, dedication to her family, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and service. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
