Obituary

Maria "Mary" Esquivel Garcia, 100, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on March 6, 1925, in San Patricio, Texas, Maria was the beloved daughter of Leandra Rivera Esquivel and Primitivo Esquivel. Maria's life is defined by her unwavering dedication to others. After becoming a Licensed Vocational Nurse in 1958, she embarked on a distinguished career spanning several decades. She served the community of Kingsville as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at the Kingsville Clinic, then Kleberg Hospital, and ultimately at Christus Spohn Hospital-Kleberg until she retired in 2002. She touched countless lives with her compassion and grace. Maria's achievements go beyond her profession. Her legacy is one of resolute family devotion and faith.

She was the matriarch of her family, and a loyal member of St. Martin's Catholic Church. Maria was the heart and soul of generations, known for her wisdom, strength, and unconditional love. She found joy in gardening and nurturing life—both in her home and in the hearts of those around her.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Angel Garcia Sr.; and two brothers, Petronilo Esquivel and Santiago "Jimmy" Esquivel Sr.

She is survived by her loving children: daughters, Rosemary (Marty Flores) Garcia and Martha Garcia, both of Kingsville; sons, Jose Angel (Teresa) Garcia Jr. of Beeville, Victor E. Garcia Sr. of Kingsville, and Juan Manuel (Alicia) Garcia of Kingsville; and sister by fate, Terry Rivera Perez. She also leaves behind thirteen cherished grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who will carry her legacy forward.
