Margarita Moreno, 92, a resident of Kingsville, TX passed away on March 12, 2016 in Kingsville, TX.
She was born on October 6, 1923 in Kingsville, TX to Mr. & Mrs. Augustin (Maria) Moreno.
Ms. Margarita Moreno dedicated her life and career "for the love of children." These are the words uttered from her voice so many times. Margarita was a 1942 H.M. King High School graduate and began her teaching career at the age of 19 years old at La Parra, a small ranching community in Kenedy County.
Maggie recalls many young women getting emergency certificates because males were going off to military service. Maggie taught several age children in a one room classroom. She then taught at Chapman Ranch then received her bachelor's degree in 1947. Three years later, in 1950, she earned her master's degree in education. In 1949, she started teaching second grade at Kleberg Elementary. Ms. Moreno spent 40 years teaching children and retired from Kingsville Independent School District in 1984. She taught for Austin Kleberg Elementary from 1952-1955, then Harvey in 1975 and Perez Elementary where she retired in 1984 dedicating her life to education for 40 years. Ms. Moreno was the cornerstone of the family, the rock that held her family together. Margarita taught the family that God and family are the most important things in life.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alicia Moreno and Rosenda Pena; and two nephews, Arnold Pena and Antonio Pena.
Survivors include one brother, Robert Moreno of Kingsville, TX; her closest nephews, John Edward (Ode) Moreno and Joseph T. Moreno, both of Kingsville, TX; several great-grand nephews and great-grandnieces, Patricia Moreno, Eugene Gonzalez, Robby Narvaez, John Edward Moreno Jr., Jaime David (Angelica) Moreno, Anthony Borrego, Jaime (Smiley) Moreno, Josephine Moreno (Patricio) Aguillo-Marchant, Kathleen Elissa Moreno, Avery Rose Martinez, Augustine (April) Moreno, Vincent Moreno, Sophia Moreno, Jillian Moreno, Maria Angelica (Rene) Rocha, Joel Rocha, Antoinette Rocha, Eloisa Pena, Arnold David Pena, Leslie Ann Zavala, and Cynthia Pena; and other numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Pallbearers include Jaime David Moreno, Patricio Aguillo-Marchant, Juan Escobar, Augustine Moreno, Eugene Gonzalez Jr., Frank De La Rosa, Joseph T. Moreno and Honorary Pallbearer is John Edward Moreno Jr.
Visitation will be held on Monday, 03-14-2016, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be held on Monday, 03-14-2016, at 7:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, 03-15-2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery in Kingsville, TX.
