Obituary

Manuel M. Salinas, age 75, a resident of Premont, Texas passed away Fri., September 13, 2013 in Falfurrias, TX. He was born on April 3, 1938 in Kingsville, TX to Rafael and Juanita Salinas.
He worked for Shell Oil Co. for 5 years, and retired from Exxon after 30 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was honorably discharged. Manuel was a very hard working, generous & humble man. He was a very loving and caring person to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed. On weekends, you could always find him at his ranch in Freer, TX or his "Dos Palomas" Ranch in San Isidro, TX where he loved to raise cattle. In his spare time, he also loved to draw, play guitar, and solve puzzles. "Lote", as known by his former Exxon co-workers, always had a great story or joke to tell.
He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Maria Elena (Nena) Salinas; sister and brother-in-law, Aurora and Bill Harper; and sister-in-law Lavinia T. Salinas.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Angelita G. Salinas of Premont, TX; five children, Anna (Mario) Rodriguez of Premont, TX, Raul Salinas of Rockdale, TX, Sergio (Dixie) Salinas of Nashville, TN, Manuel (Mito) Salinas of Seymour, TX, and Jorge (Rachel) Salinas of Calallen, TX; grand-daughter whom he raised and always called "mijita", Celina Davila; other grandchildren, Frank Davila III of Premont, TX, and Christina (Juan) Moralez, both of Austin, TX, Marissa, Miranda, and Mikaela Salinas of Seymour, TX, Reese and Tanner Salinas of Nashville, TN; Melissa (Jeff) Hester of Cincinnati, OH, Stephen (Kim) Paniagua of Calallen, TX, Valerie (Hugo) Trevino of Houston, TX, Erica (Rumaldo) Carreon and Cindy Rodriguez of Dallas, TX; fourteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Alma Mendietta, and Estella Flores, both of California, Elizabeth Sias of Shreveport, La., Margaret Saenz, Noemi Lopez, David Salinas, Roberto Benjamin Salinas, all of Kingsville, and Rafael Salinas of Milton, Fl.; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
Visitation will be held on Sun., Sept. 15, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home. A Religious Service will be held on Sun., Sept. 15, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Templo Betel Assembly of God. A Funeral Service will be held on Mon., Sept. 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Templo Betel Assembly of God with Reverend Manuel Garza officiating. Interment will follow at Premont Cemetery.
