Manuel R. Montalvo, 64, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on July 26, 1959, in Kingsville, Texas.
In his earlier years, Manuel was a jockey and worked as a Dozer operator for the renowned King Ranch. His dedication to farm and ranch work defined his professional journey for many years. Known by many as "the man with the black cowboy hat," Manuel was a one-of-a-kind individual.
He had a passion for spending quality time with his children, family, and friends, often entertaining them with stories from his past. Manuel found immense joy in the presence of his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Manuel is preceded in death by his father, Pablo Montalvo. He is survived by his mother, Lydia R. Montalvo of Kingsville, four children—Priscilla Montalvo, Manuel (Vanessa) Montalvo Jr., Pablo Montalvo, and Desirae (Ernie) Perez, all of Kingsville—eleven grandchildren, Destyni, Brianna, Joseph, Jazlyn, Jacob, Elena, McKenzie, Avyanna, Ava, Brynlee, and Emersyn; and two great-grandchildren, Zakary, and Everleigh Jo. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends.
Pallbearers for Manuel's last ride include Armando Hinojosa, Joseph Hernandez, Jacob Montalvo, Ernie Perez, Donny Goodwyn, Albert Juarez, Ruben Juarez, and Robert Montalvo.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at Christus Spohn Shoreline for their dedicated care.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, January 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church, with Father Alfredo Villarreal officiating. Burial will follow at San Buena Ventura Ranch Cemetery in Rios, Texas.
