Lida Concepción "Sister Conchita" Chavez Romo, age 87, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025.
She was born on December 8, 1937, in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico.
A devoted member of the Catholic faith, Sister Conchita lovingly served as a Sister of the Missionary Daughters of the Most Pure Virgin Mary (M.P.D.V.M.). Her lifelong missionary work touched many lives across Mexico, including in Aguascalientes, Guadalajara, Durango, Guaymas, and Sonora, as well as in the United States in Sunnyside and Wananchi, Washington, and Kingsville, Texas. Her kindness, humility, and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on every community she served.
She is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Left to cherish her memory are her four beloved sisters, Maria Teresa Chavez, Maria Socorro Chavez, Maria Elena Chavez, and Josefina Chavez; her brother, Luis Chavez; her extended family of numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her cherished religious family, the Catholic Sisters of her order, M.P.D.V.M.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church with Father Alfredo Villarreal officiating. Cremation will follow, and a Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
