Kathleen Marie Thompson, 68, a resident of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on or around May 21, 2024.
Kathleen was born on May 9, 1956, in Alice, Texas, to Martin Hinojosa Jr. and Maria Olga Canales. She graduated from Texas A&I University and was an educator for K.I.S.D, Ben Bolt ISD, and CCISD. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone through when she owned and operated a retail clothing store.
An artist at heart, Kathleen was renowned for her creative talents, with her artwork being cherished and sold throughout the surrounding area. Her artistic legacy leaves an indelible mark on the community and those who appreciated her work, including a mural in a local restaurant.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 35 years, John S. Thompson. Their love and partnership were a testament to enduring commitment and shared dreams.
She is survived by her brother, Martin (Laura) Hinojosa Jr. of Corpus Christi; her sister, Karol Hinojosa; her nephew, Thomas; her niece, Tara; her aunt, Sylvia H. Salinas of Corpus Christi; and a special cousin, Lydia Estella Canales of Benavides. Kathleen's memory will also be cherished by numerous cousins, relatives, and friends whose lives she touched.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. to celebrate Kathleen's life and legacy, and that of her husband Dr. John S. Thompson, a local chemistry professor at TAMUK.
