Juanita S. Garcia, age 85, passed away on December 14, 2024. She was born on January 13, 1939, to Miguel and Juanita Silva.
Juanita will always be remembered for her devotion to her Christian faith, and her family. She was a mother who loved her children and grandchildren, enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, making tamales and baking pan de polvo (cookies). She loved sewing, gardening, and helping others. Juanita worked for several years at the Haggar Clothing Company in Robstown, Tx as a seamstress until the factory's closure. Juanita was also a dedicated Nanny for Dr. Gilberto Sosa and their children for 20 plus years. Her fondest memories were of the times spent traveling with their family. She very proudly cared for the children while allowing Dr. Sosa and his wife time for various activities including skiing. She was also a hardworking, independent, caring mother and grandmother. Juanita was a loving friend, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Juanita and Miguel Silva; her two loving husbands, Juan C. Lopez and Benito Garcia. Those who have gone before her as well include her sisters, Lorenza S. Camarillo, Irene Sanchez, Rosario S. Macareno, Virginia S. Avalos; and her brothers, Aurelio H. Silva, and Alejandro H. Silva.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Elizabeth (Jose) Huerta, Ismael (Smiley) Lopez, Eva Trevino, Deborah (Javier) Avila, all of Kingsville, Noemi (Carlos) Trevino from San Antonio, Texas, Daniel Lopez from Dallas, Texas, Lulu Maria Linda (David) Williams from Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters, Maria (Johnny) Harris , Santos S. Vasquez, Gregoria (Abel) Garcia; and brothers, Miguel (Esther) Silva, and Juan H. Silva. Also left to carry on her legacy are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are grandchildren, Jose Huerta Jr., Ellis (Sonny) Huerta, John Huerta, Ismael Lopez Jr., Juan David (J.D.) Trevino, Daniella Ilysia Avila, and great-grandchild, Anthonio Huerta.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, 230 E. Ella Ave., Kingsville, Texas. A Funeral Service will be on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home. Juanita will be laid to rest at Santa Gertrudis memorial Cemetery.
