Jose Rene Villarreal, 80, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on May 13, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

He was born on May 6, 1945, in Falfurrias, Texas, to Vicente and Lorenza Villarreal.

A hardworking and self-made man, Jose was the proud owner and operator of Joe's Barber Shop, where he built lasting connections through his craft and integrity. Known for his steady presence, he brought warmth and familiarity to those who sat in his chair and to all who knew him.

Jose enjoyed spending his time staying active, watching sports, and taking trips to the newest casinos with his family and friends. He embraced life with quiet joy and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Demetrio Villarreal; his sister, Maria Elva Villarreal; and his granddaughter, Rebecca Villarreal.

He is survived by his three daughters, Patricia Denise Villarreal of Kingsville, Veronica R. Villarreal of Corpus Christi, and Maricela V. (Javier) Lopez of Rio Grande City; two sons, Jose Rene (Melissa) Villarreal Jr. of Kingsville and Jonathan David (Karen) Villarreal of San Antonio; eighteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 a.m., also at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with Pastor Servando Torres officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Gertrudis Memorial Cemetery.
