Obituary

Jose Lucio "Pepe" Urbina, 75, of Bishop, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on July 30, 1949, in Matamoros, Mexico, to Geronimo and Flavia Urbina, Pepe lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and passions.
Pepe was a hardworking and devoted self-employed roofer who took great pride in his craft. After retiring, he embraced his love for the outdoors, finding joy in gardening, fishing, and the simple pleasures of nature. His green thumb and love for the earth were evident in the beautiful gardens he nurtured. Pepe also had a deep appreciation for music, often filling his home with melodies that brought smiles to all who visited. He always had a nickname for all the special people in his life.
He is preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Ariela Garza.
Family was the cornerstone of Pepe's life. He is survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Annabelle Urbina of Bishop, who stood by his side with unwavering love and support. He was a proud father to his three sons, Jose Urbina Jr., Adan Urbina, and Geronimo Urbina, and two daughters, Debra Urbina and Diana Urbina. Pepe also embraced his extended family with open arms, becoming a cherished stepfather to Dorothy (Oscar) Garza, Karina (Hector) Garza, and Daniela Garza; and Miguel (Brittany) Garza, Luis Garza, Roman Garza, and Dominic Garza.
Pepe's legacy continues through his twenty-four grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. Among them, his special granddaughter, Abia Garza, held a unique place in his heart. His family tree extends further with numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will carry his memory and spirit forward.
Pepe will be cremated in accordance with his wishes, as a final act of honoring his memory. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Religious Service to begin at 7:00 p.m.
As we remember Pepe, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love for nature, music, and, most importantly, his family and friends. He was a loving father to all of his children. His warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
