Jose A. Loera, age 69, a beloved resident of Bishop, Texas, passed away on August 8, 2024, at Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, surrounded by his devoted family.
Jose was born on July 20, 1955, in Kingsville, Texas. A man of unwavering faith, he lived a life filled with love, joy, and dedication to his family. He retired from Driscoll Grain Coop, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his community.
Jose was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time with his family, dancing, tending to his garden, and being the life of the party. His vibrant spirit and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Palmira Loera; and one nephew, Antonio "Tony" Loera III.
Jose leaves behind his devoted wife of 28 years, Maria Lucia "Lucy" Loera of Bishop; three loving daughters, Mary Ann (Ronald) Alfaro of Kingsville, Norma (Gary) Herrera of Kingsville, and Rubi Perez of Bishop; and one son, Michael Loera. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Aaron, Debra, Araceli, Mikey, EJ, Natalie, Nathan, Arieana, and Julian, and a cherished great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Maria Hilda (Humberto) De La Vina; four brothers, Antonio (Maricela) Loera Jr. of Edinburg, Arnoldo (Mona) Loera of Ennis, Alberto "Beto" (Virginia) Loera, and Andy (Delma) Loera; his stepmother, Cristela "Kela" Loera; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Religious Service at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Arnoldo "Arnold" Loera. Following the service, cremation will take place.
