Jose Rene Cortez, 79, of Kingsville, TX passed away October 27, 2016 in Corpus Christi, TX.
He was born on August 24, 1937 in Kingsville, TX to Guadalupe and Maria De La Luz Cortez.
He was a retired plumber for the King Ranch.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Rafaela Cortez; one brother, Guadalupe Cortez; two sisters, Elma Mejorado and Gloria Molina.
Survivors include one son, Jose Rene (Pamela) Cortez Jr. of Kingsville; one daughter, Esther (Oscar) Montalvo of Kingsville; two brothers, Roberto Cortez and Severiano Cortez both of Houston; three sisters, Gracie Rivera, Maria De La Luz Cortez, and Giselda Ruiz all of Houston; five grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, 10-30-2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.
A Rosary was held on Sunday, 10-30-2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service was held on Monday, 10-31-2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Romeo Salinas officiating.
Burial will take place in Kingsville Resthaven Cemetery.
