Jesus S. Villanueva, 79, of Bishop, Texas, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Born on September 12, 1945, in Bishop, he was the beloved son of the late Filemon and Refugia Villanueva. Jesus was a proud lifelong resident of Bishop and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
A hardworking and skilled welder and pipefitter, Jesus spent many years in his trade before retiring. He was a man of strong faith and a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church. His passions in life were simple and heartfelt—he loved watching WWE wrestling, casting a line while fishing, and cheering on his favorite football teams. He also found great joy in coaching minor league baseball, where he mentored and encouraged young athletes, often forming lifelong bonds with the players and their families.
He is preceded in death by his four sisters: Matilde Villanueva, Guadalupe Villanueva, Socorro Revilla, and Teresa Jimenez, with whom he now reunites in eternal rest.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Cecilia R. Villanueva of Bishop; two children, Filemon R. Villanueva (Megan) of Arizona and Kristina V. Garcia (Michael) of Bishop. He also leaves behind his sister, Janie V. Garay of Clute; five grandchildren—Waverly, Ryan, Jesika, Hailey, and Michael Jr., and five great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and laughter. His extended family includes many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss his warm spirit and storytelling.
The Villanueva family would like to thank all those who offered prayers, support, and comfort during this time.
