Obituary

Hermelinda García Galvan, 88, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family on May 18, 2025. Born on August 8, 1936, in Kingsville, she lived her entire life in the community she loved, cherished, and served with devotion.

A faithful servant of the Catholic Church, Hermelinda was a lifelong member of St. Martin's Catholic Church, where she was active in the Catholic Daughters and taught First Communion CCD classes for many years. Her deep faith guided her life and shone through in her selfless service to others.

Hermelinda worked as a dedicated cafeteria worker at Perez Elementary and Memorial Junior High, and earlier in her life, she also worked at a local bank. She was known for her quiet strength, dedication, and warm, welcoming spirit. Whether in her professional life or at home, she embodied kindness and care and left a lasting impression on her coworkers, students, and community.

Above all, Hermelinda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her love, guidance, and unwavering presence enriched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of faith, family, and service will continue to live on through those she loved so deeply.

Hermelinda was the beloved wife of the late Jose Ángel Galvan. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Jose Ángel Galvan Jr., and numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving children: Juan Manuel Galvan of Kingsville, Jesus Javier Galvan of El Campo, and Lucy Marie (Gabriel) Martinez of San Antonio; her cherished grandchildren: Matthew James, Christian Anthony, and Zachary Ángel Martinez; and her dear sister, Mary Francis Anderson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church with Father Alfredo Villarreal officiating.

Burial will follow at Las Latas Cemetery in Alice, Texas.

Arrangements are under the compassionate care of Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.
