Gonzalo Nunez Herrera, 74, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on August 18, 2024, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on February 22, 1950, in Guadalajara, Mexico, Gonzalo was a beloved figure in his community, known for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith.
A self-employed landscaper, Gonzalo took immense pride in his work, creating beautiful spaces that reflected his dedication and passion for nature. Beyond his professional life, he was a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to shower them with love and wisdom.
Gonzalo's home was a sanctuary for all. He practiced an open-door policy, welcoming anyone in need with open arms and a kind heart. His generosity and compassion extended beyond his family; he was a vigilant guardian for his Fairview neighbors, always keeping a watchful eye to ensure their safety and well-being.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Maria Jesus Herrera, Gonzalo's legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by his three sons, Luis (Georgina) Herrera of Kingsville, Rafael Herrera of Alice, and Jesus Herrera of Kingsville; two daughters, Maria Herrera of Kingsville and Nancy Herrera of Alice; two brothers, Trinidad Herrera and Ruben Herrera; six sisters, Victoria Herrera, Magdalena Herrera, Maria H. Alvarez, Elisa H. Nunez, Margarita Herrera, and Graciela Nunez. He also leaves behind six grandchildren— KarLeigh, Luis Jr., Ruben Jr., EmilliAnna, MariLenna, and Jesus Jr.— as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold his memory dear.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church with Father Alfredo Villarreal officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Gertrudis Memorial Cemetery.
Gonzalo's life was a testament to the power of kindness, faith, and family. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
