Gilbert G. Castaneda, a beloved member of the Kingsville community, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 76 years old.
Born on September 6, 1947, in Kingsville, Texas, Gilbert was the cherished son of Alejandro and Viola Castaneda. He grew up in Kingsville, where he formed deep bonds with his family and friends that would last a lifetime.
Gilbert dedicated his career to the craft of painting. His work ethic and commitment to excellence earned him admiration among his peers and clients alike.
More than his professional accomplishments, Gilbert will be remembered for his unwavering faith and his devotion to his family. He found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially when surrounded by his loved ones. Gilbert's passion for sports, particularly his fervent support for the U.T. Longhorns, Houston Astros, and Dallas Cowboys, brought excitement and camaraderie to many gatherings with family and friends.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro, and Viola Castaneda, as well as two sisters and five brothers.
He is survived by his adoring daughter, Celina Menn, grandchildren Biana, Briana, Bailey, and Siera; and great-grandchildren Lily and Liam. Gilbert also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and his favorite niece, Catalina (Eliseo) Garcia, whose lives he touched profoundly with his kindness and wisdom.
A Graveside Service to honor Gilbert's life will be held at a later date in Santa Gertrudis Memorial Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to celebrate his remarkable journey and bid him farewell.
Though Gilbert may no longer walk among us, his spirit will live on in the memories we hold dear and the love that surrounds us always. May he rest in eternal peace.
