Ernesto Rios Flores, age 68, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Sun., September 1, 2013. He was born on November 7, 1944 in Kingsville, TX to Aniceto and Fidela Flores.
He retired from the U. S. Army after serving 20 years. He went on to retire from a second career with Corpus Christi Army Depot after 23 years. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 99, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 203, Veterans of Foreign Wars 2375, and the Last Patrol Ranch. Ernesto was also a Boy Scout Master. He earned an Associate's Degree from Georgia Military College. His Army was Number 1, but his family was "always". Ernesto knew no strangers; to him, everybody was his cousin or his friend. Ernesto, "Neto" as he was known, was always heard reminiscing about the good old days and his ancestry. His famous words were, "Never forget where you came from."
Survivors include his wife, Yolanda De Leon Flores; the pride and joys of his life, his sons, Ernie Flores (Lesli) of Kingsville, and Eddie (Jamie) Flores of Dallas; his grandchildren, Joseph Dylan, Cameron Isabella, Hannah Marie, and Elijah Ryhder; and one brother, Ramon Flores of Kingsville. He will be sadly missed by his family and best friends, Sgt. First Class (Army Ret.) Luciano Garcia (Mary) from Kyle, TX, and his Snoflake.
A Rosary was held on Tues., Sept. 3, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service was held on Wed., Sept. 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Raul Rosales officiating.
Interment followed at Kingsville Resthaven Cemetery.
