Obituary

Elva Treviño was called home to be with the Lord on the evening of January 24, 2021. She was born on February 19, 1952 to Matilde (Coy) and Rufino Arredondo in Rio Grande City, Texas.
She was a devoted wife of 45 years to her husband Joe, and loving mother to her children Maria Pricilla Martinez, Leticia Maribel Torres, and Jose Humberto de Jesus Treviño.
In 1975 she graduated from Texas A & I University in Kingsville, Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and went on to earn her Master of Science degree in 1983.
Her passion was educating children and serving her community. She dedicated 30 years to educating and counseling elementary and junior high students.
She was a devout catholic and member of St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Kingsville, Texas and humbly served her church as a lector, and extraordinary minister, as well as served Our Lady of Good Counsel Church as a catechist for many years.
As an avid writer, poet and artist, she found beauty in everything around her. She made stories come to life and shared her love for Christ with everyone. We remember her for her kind and gentle spirit, love of music, making people laugh, and compassion for others. Elva exuded pride and a sincere passion that was clear to see for all who met her. Her unending optimism was her hallmark as well as her eloquence when sharing her thoughts, ideas and feelings.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, and sister, Olga Angelina Arredondo.
Elva is survived by her husband Joe Treviño; daughters, Maria Pricilla Martinez; Leticia Maribel Torres (Armando); and son, Jose Humberto de Jesus Treviño (Michelle); granddaughters, Mia Savannah Ramos; Melaina Joy Martinez; Ava Julliette Martinez; Charlotte Thérèse Treviño; and several nieces and nephews.
