"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts."
— Washington Irving
Elodia was first and foremost, a mother. She embodied love and devotion to the children she birthed and those who needed love along the way.
She had a passion for life, and the joys that come with bringing people together, whether it was her 7 children around a stack of her homemade Texas shaped tortillas, her grandchildren around her Lotería set, her Bingeras on Sunday afternoons, or the crowd that gathered to celebrate and dance to Bobby Pulido on her birthday.
At the end, her home was filled with the people who loved her, drawn together to say farewell and give thanks for her strength, passion, and love.
