Elida Ortegon Palacios, age 93, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on May 23, 2024, in Kingsville, Texas. She was born on October 19, 1930, in Kingsville, Texas, to Francisco and Irene Ortegon.

Elida dedicated many years of her life to serving the community, working tirelessly in the Cafeteria at Ricardo ISD until her retirement. She was a devout member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Mission Church in Ricardo, where her faith shone brightly through her actions and interactions with others. Known for her joyful spirit, Elida brought happiness to everyone around her.

A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Elida cherished her family above all else. In her spare time, she found joy in dancing to Tejano music, her passion shining through in every step.

Elida was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Adan Palacios, her son Juan Palacios, three sisters, and one brother.

She is survived by her two daughters, Maria (Kevin) McBryde and Lupita (Joey) Cordero; three sons, Jose (Ellen) Palacios, Andres (Irene) Palacios, and Steven (Carol) Palacios, all of Ricardo, TX; twelve grandchildren: Tanya, Jeanette, Vanessa, Kyle, Danielle, Jessica, Joseph, Patrick, Aryssa, Hannah, Cody, and Diego; sixteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin Catholic Church with Father Alfredo Villarreal officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Gertrudis Memorial Cemetery.

Elida Ortegon Palacios will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, faith, and joy will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
