Obituary

Elia Cabrera Morais, 87, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 15, 1938, in Kingsville, Texas, Elia was the cherished daughter of Eduardo and Reyes Cabrera. She lived a life full of love, adventure, and devotion to her family. A loyal wife and mother, she took great pride in being the wife of a Navy sailor and treasured every moment of raising her two sons, whom she loved more than anything.

Elia dedicated many years to education, teaching both in Texas and abroad, including time in Nigeria and other countries. Her work inspired and shaped the lives of countless students, leaving an enduring legacy that reached far beyond the classroom.

Elia's vibrant spirit was reflected in the things she loved most. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to mariachi music, and dancing. She found joy in beach outings, traveling on cruises, and most of all, spending time surrounded by her family. Her warmth, laughter, and love of life created countless memories that will be treasured forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eduardo and Reyes Cabrera, her sister, Susana Moya, and several beloved family members.

Elia is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Raymond T. Morais Sr. of Corpus Christi; her two sons, Raymond Morais Jr. (Debbie) of Corpus Christi , and Wayne Morais (Melissa) of Kingsville; her three beloved granddaughters, Kasie (Dustin) Meyer, Dawn (Danny) Lopez, and Amy (Ethan) Cox; her brother, Eduardo Cabrera Jr. (Connie); and seven great-grandchildren who brought endless joy to her life: Bryce, Gunner, Jayce, Dixon, Kimber, Demi, and Charli. She is also lovingly remembered by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 10:15 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Father Alfredo Villarreal. Interment will follow at the Cabrera Family Cemetery.

Her legacy of love, laughter, and family devotion will live on in all who knew her.
