Obituary

Efrain Chapa, 81, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on March 18, 2025, in Kingsville, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family and community.

He was born on September 5, 1943, in Alice, Texas to Atilano and Eliza Chapa.

Efrain was a dedicated educator, teaching for 30 years with the Kingsville Independent School District (KISD) before retiring. He was deeply committed to his students and loved seeing them thrive, often reminiscing about the many lives he impacted throughout his career.

Beyond his passion for teaching, Efrain was an avid farmer and rancher. He took great pride in growing crops, including watermelons, cantaloupes, cucumbers, and corn. He was a devoted, longtime member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, where his unwavering faith served as a cornerstone throughout his life.

Efrain was deeply involved in his community, particularly through his role as KKJLS Poultry Superintendent for many years. He also spent countless hours as a baseball and softball coach, sharing his love for sports with his children and other youth in the area.

He enjoyed fishing but hunting was his true passion, where he found joy in the outdoors and the camaraderie with friends and family. He was a proud supporter of his grandchildren's activities, including stock shows, football games, softball games, and any & all events.

A person who never met a stranger, Efrain was known for his generosity, warmth, smile, and his mustache. He loved seeing his former students and cherished the bonds he created throughout his life.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 59 years, Noelia L. Chapa of Kingsville; one son, Oscar (Priscilla) Chapa of Richmond; two daughters, Debbie Chapa Brannon of Katy, and Jackie Chapa (John) Guerrero of Kingsville; six grandchildren, Anthony, Albert, Allie, Andie, John David, and Julia; four great-grandchildren, Georgina, Jakson, Ava, and Camila; two sisters, Adriana (Israel) Lopez, and Alva Lee (Victor) Diaz De Leon; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
