Dorothy J. Merritt, 80, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, in Kingsville.

Dorothy was born on September 3, 1945, in Midwest City, Oklahoma, to Judson and Ruth Thacker. She later made her home in Kingsville, where she spent many years serving her community as a dedicated and talented hair stylist before retiring.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Tone; her brothers, Jerry and Jud Thacker; her nieces, Cindy and Beverly Thacker; and her nephew, Del Thacker.

Dorothy is survived by her loving son, Ward Merritt of Kingsville; her grandchildren, Alexandra (Josh) Hartwick and Jonathan (Samanda) Merritt; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Charlotte and William, with another great-grandchild expected.

Cremation will follow, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
