Doris M. Guerrero, 90, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas.
Born on February 22, 1934, in Kingsville, Texas, to Tomas and Elnora Salazar, Doris was a proud Kineño and a lifetime resident of the historic King Ranch. She was deeply devoted to her family, her faith, and her community.
Doris dedicated many years as a bus driver for Santa Gertrudis I.S.D. and Kingsville I.S.D., becoming a beloved figure to the students and families she served. As the matriarch of her family, she led with love, wisdom, and unwavering faith in God. Doris enjoyed cheering for her family during sporting events and was a proud Denver Broncos fan. In her free time, she found joy in gardening and tending to her yard, where her green thumb brought life and beauty to her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Esteban C. Guerrero; her son, Omar E. Guerrero; her brothers, Tomas Salazar Jr. and Frank Salazar; one stepson, Onesimo M. Guerrero; grandchild, Eloy A. Guerrero; two daughters-in-law, Edna L. Guerrero, and Teresa L. Guerrero.
Doris leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her three sons, Dennis (Cheryl) Cromwell of San Antonio, George "Tommy" (Kassandra) Cromwell of Fort Worth, and Esteban (Edna†) Guerrero of Falcon Heights; her stepson, Alfredo M. (Teresa †) Guerrero of Kingsville; her sister, Mary Jane Rios of Houston; and eleven beloved grandchildren: Steven, Marie, Christopher, Eva, Michael, Dennis, Katrina, Savannah, Jacob, Daniel, and David; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life during visitation on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will follow on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church, officiated by Father Alfredo Villarreal.
Doris's love and faith will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
