Debra Kay Rivera, age 68, of Kingsville, Texas passed away on September 20, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on March 9, 1958, in Grand Junction, Colorado to Zuron and Lucretia Kubli.

Debra was a retired waitress who took pride in caring and serving others. She will be remembered above all for her extraordinary kindness. Everyone who knew her seemed to have the same words to share—she was always so sweet, so caring, and so kind. She gave so much of herself to others while asking for very little in return.

She was a devoted mother whose love for her son was immeasurable. Though he believed he was meant to care for her, he came to realize how deeply he depended on her love and presence in his own life. Her greatest joy was her family, and there was nothing quite like the smile that came to her face when her son opened his arms to her.

She had a way of bringing warmth and happiness wherever she went. Her gentle spirit and loving heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was truly one of those rare people who made the world a little brighter simply by being in it.

Survivors include her cherished son, Jose Angel Rivera II; her beloved granddaughter, Joeliza Rivera; and several family members with whom she had not yet had the opportunity to connect: her sister, Robin Reason of Texas, and her brothers, Carol Jr., Raymond, Bobby, and Donnie Whitfield.

A Graveside Service will be held at a later date.

Debra will forever be remembered as a gentle spirit, a kind soul, and “Mother Dearest.”
