Rev. Deacon Tiburcio "Butcho" T. Garcia, 87, of Kingsville, Texas passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on March 10, 2024. He was born on November 14, 1936, in Alice, Texas to the late Ventura and Luz Garcia. He was an active member of St. Martin Catholic Church. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will always be remembered for his unconditional love and his caring heart. He loved intimate family gatherings and vacationing.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Norma L Garcia, son, Joel T. Garcia, his parents, Ventura, and Luz Garcia, and one sister, Cidelia (Johnny) Rivera.

Rev. Deacon Tiburcio "Butcho" T. Garcia was ordained to the Permanent Deaconate on May 12, 1990, at the Corpus Christi Cathedral by Bishop Emeritus Rene H. Gracida for the Diocese of Corpus Christi. He was assigned to his home parish, St Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Kingsville, TX. Most recently, his age and ill health kept him from working in the ministry he so cherished. As Deacon of St. Martin Catholic Church, he helped foster the faith of countless parishioners during his 34 years of ministry. He dutifully assisted former pastors at Mass, proclaimed the gospel, and preached homilies when needed. He helped usher many into the faith by teaching baptism instructions and baptizing numerous infants. He witnessed and blessed marriages and guided the grieving as he presided at funeral services. His ministry took him to visit the sick, the elderly, and the homebound. He was active in all aspects of parish life, and we are certain that many of his acts of kindness and charity will remain nameless and only known to God. Deacon Garcia led a faith-filled life and bore witness to the gospel through his service and dedication to God and His people.

Survivors include two sons, Roel T. (Jesus) Garcia-Rangel of Kingsville, TX, and Noel T. (Karri) Garcia of San Antonio, TX; one daughter, Zaida Castillo of San Antonio, TX; one brother, Ventura Jr. (Anna Lee †) Garcia of Alice, Tx; four sisters, Ester (Eleazar †) Perez of Kingsville, TX, Goyita (Enrique) Garcia of Alice, TX, Esmeralda (Ernesto) Leal of Alice, TX, Juanita (Raul) Hinojosa of Sugarland, TX; five grandsons, Joshua J. (Lori) Garcia, Gregory T. (Danielle) Castillo, John Castillo, Andres (Cara Dec) Castillo and Antonio Castillo; four great-grandchildren, Caleb Garcia, Micah Garcia, Talith Garcia and Liam T. Castillo.

Pallbearers include Noel T. Garcia, Joshua J. Garcia, Gregory T. Castillo, John Castillo, Andres Castillo, and Antonio Castillo, and Jesus M. Garcia-Rangel.

A Rosary will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10:30 am at St. Martin Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Martin Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Alice Cemetery, in Alice, Texas. For any floral deliveries, please have them delivered by Friday, March 22, 2024, to 230 E. Ella, Kingsville, TX.
