David P. "La Jaiva" Gaytan, 85, of Kingsville, Texas passed away on March 16, 2025, in Kingsville, Texas.
David was born on February 29, 1940, in Bishop, Texas, to Manuel and Petra Gaytan. A proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was known for his deep love of family, his dedication to his work, and his vibrant personality. David spent many years as a welder for the City of Kingsville, Texas.
David's family was the center of his life. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Carmen P. Gaytan, and was a loving father to his children. David was cherished as a grandfather (Popo), great-grandfather (Welo), and great-great-grandfather, and he took great joy in watching his family grow. His humor, kindness, and generosity touched everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carmen; his stepfather, Palomon Barrera; his son, Hector Gaytan; and his brother, Manuel Gaytan Jr.
David's memory will forever be carried on by his six daughters: Mary Del (Fred) Gonzales of Omak, Washington, Cynthia Ann (Jim) Mauer of Sioux City, Iowa, Patricia G. (Marshall) Bass of Kingsville, Petra Ann Gaytan of Kingsville, Juanita (Joe) Arcidiacono of Hanford, California, and Flo (Silver) Falcon of Kingsville. He is also survived by his two sons, Edward Farrow of Fort Worth, and David (Judy) Gaytan of Houston. David leaves behind a legacy of 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom will miss his love and guidance. His sisters, Lori (Gilbert) Gomez, Flora Gaytan, and Dora Arriola, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, also mourn his loss.
David will be remembered for his strength, his love for his family, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. He leaves behind a profound legacy of kindness, laughter, and dedication.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Sister Elizabeth Saenz officiating. A cremation will follow the service.
