Cruz Gonzalez, Sr., age 80, a beloved member of the Kingsville community, passed away on December 29, 2023, in Kingsville, Texas. Born on May 3, 1943, in Kingsville, Texas, Cruz lived a life rich in dedication, hard work, and love.

Cruz was a professional truck driver and took immense pride in working on his family's property. His hands carried the weight of years spent toiling on the land, and his heart was devoted to the prosperity of his family. A talented musician, Cruz found solace and joy in the melodies he created, leaving a harmonious imprint on the memories of those who knew him.

A dedicated family man, Cruz leaves behind a legacy of love, commitment, and resilience. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Petra B. Gonzalez, and their children: Cruz (Gina) Gonzalez Jr. of Huntsville, Alabama; Corando Cly Gonzalez of Kingsville; and Christina (Juan) Hinojosa. Cruz is also remembered fondly by his nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Cruz was preceded in death by his parents, Arturo, and Paula Gonzalez of Kingsville; brother, Ernesto Gonzalez of Kingsville; sister, Ernestina Escamilla of Kingsville; and son, Casey Gonzalez of Kingsville. While he may no longer be with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, followed by a Rosary at 10:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will then be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church with Father Alfredo Villarreal officiating. The final farewell will take place at Kingsville Resthaven Cemetery.
