Catarina Marquez Solis, 85, of Kingsville, TX passed away on August 7, 2020 in Corpus Christi, TX. She was born on March 14, 1935 in Mercedes, TX to Mr. and Mrs. Luis and Josefina Marquez. Catarina was a domestic engineer, a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to those she loved dearly. She was a member of Kings Way Family Church and was actively involved in her church ministry; Women's Ministries, Women's Aglow, and thru her life span ministry, she taught Sunday School and Missionettes to the young girls. She taught her children to love and to serve the Lord. She was a scholar, a leader, in all that she did. She lived and pursued her life with nothing but excellence and she raised her children, grand-children, and great-grand-children to believe they could do and be anything their heart desired. Catarina loved to read; one of her passions was reading and studying the word of God. She was a master of the word of God and a prayer warrior for God's Kingdom. Another passion was that she loved to exercise and could run up to five miles a day and believed in eating healthy. She loved to play skip-bo, and scrabble (which she was a champion) with her family and she was extremely competitive. She loved cooking. She made the best Mexican Food and the best tortillas. She loved the holidays as she would begin preparing the Tamales for all her family and friends. She was a humble person and matriarch to her family, as well as extended family in the valley, where she was born and raised in a family of twelve. She will be dearly missed and was beloved by all of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rene Q. Solis Sr. and one son, Rene M. Solis Jr. Survivors include one son, Steven (Almann) Marquez Solis of Kingsville, TX; three daughters, Ester (Steven) Baker of Sealy, TX, Cynthia M. (Michael) Dittrich of San Antonio, TX, and Sylvia Estella Solis Dvorak of Kingsville, TX; one sister, Guadalupe Marquez of Mercedes, TX; one brother Macario Marquez of Mercedes, TX; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sat., 08-15-2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Kings Way Family Church with Pastor Ed Cann officiating. Interment will follow at Kingsville Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.
