Obituary

Carlos G. Chavez Jr., age 70, of Kingsville, Texas, peacefully passed away on January 2, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. Born on November 16, 1953, in Alton, Texas, he was the beloved son of Carlos and Tomasita Chavez Sr.

He was an extremely hard worker, dedicated and determined to provide for his family and give them the life they deserved. Carlos was a retired carpentar and the owner and operator of Chavez & Sons Construction. In his previous years, he was employed with K.I.S.D. He was a devoted father and grandfather who created a nickname for everyone. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world and he was unendingly proud of his children.

Carlos had a gift of making everyone feel like family. He constantly made it a point to check in on people and was always helping others. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his family and friends, as well as being a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He will be missed more than words can say.

Carlos was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Joe Martinez, and Pete Anthony Chavez, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Andrea M. Chavez, and their seven children: Anna (Rudy) Hall of Dallas, Mary Jane Obregon of Dallas, Angelica (Rigo) Olivo of Kingsville, Jessica (Josh) Chavez of Kingsville, Tommie (Robert) Vela of Dallas, Danny (Selena) Chavez of Kingsville, and Carlos (Samantha) Chavez of Kingsville.

In addition to his immediate family, Carlos is also survived by his sister, San Juanita Chavez, and brothers, Martin Chavez, and Raymond Chavez. He leaves behind a large and loving family, including thirty-two grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and an uncle, Filiciano Chavez. Numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews also mourn his passing.

Visitation to pay respects to Carlos will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home. A Rosary, a time of prayer and reflection, will follow at 6:30 p.m. on the same day at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

A Funeral Mass, officiated by Father Paulson, is scheduled for Monday, January 8, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Following the Funeral Mass, Carlos will be laid to rest at Santa Gertrudis Memorial Cemetery.

During this challenging time, the family appreciates the support and condolences of friends and community members. Carlos G. Chavez Jr. will be remembered for his dedication to his family and community, and his legacy will live on through the memories shared by those who knew and loved him.
