Baldemar H. Quintanilla Sr., a resilient soul who graced this world with his warmth and wisdom, peacefully passed away on February 24, 2024, in Kingsville, Texas, at the age of 93. Born on December 19, 1930, in Ben Bolt, Texas, to the late Valentin and Rafaela Quintanilla, he left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
Baldemar was a proud U.S. Army Korean Combat Veteran and dedicated his post-military years to civil service with N.A.S. Kingsville. His commitment to serving his country mirrored his devotion to his faith, as he was an esteemed member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.
A pillar of strength and love, Baldemar was a cherished husband of 67 years to his late wife, Rosaena Garza Quintanilla.
In addition to his passing, he is mourned by the memory of his late sister, Zulema Olivarez, and the absence of his two brothers, Gusmaro Quintanilla and Rene Quintanilla, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving children: Emma Jean (Hector) Hernandez of Kingsville, Baldemar (Norma Lilliana) Quintanilla Jr. of Tyler, and Abel (Mary) Quintanilla of San Antonio. Additionally, he is fondly remembered by his brothers Valentin Quintanilla III, Rogelio Quintanilla, and Ruben Quintanilla, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Baldemar's legacy extends through eight grandchildren—Jason, Brianna, Daniel, Aaron, Aidan, Gina Marie, Andrea, and Matthew—and one great-grandson, Noah. Each one is a living testament to his enduring love and the values he instilled.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, officiated by Father Paulson. Following the Mass, Baldemar will be laid to rest at Santa Gertrudis Memorial Cemetery with the rendering of full military honors.
