Angelita Martinez, 71, of Kingsville, TX passed away on June 6, 2022, in Kingsville, TX.
Angelita "Angie" was born to Angela "Angelita" and Silverio Martinez on May 21, 1951, in McAllen Texas. She had ten toes, ten fingers, and an extra copy of chromosome 21. The extra copy made her an innocent bundle of warmth and love. Her parents took her home even though the doctors said they should not because she was not expected to survive. Angie not only survived but thrived. Surrounded by people she loved and that loved her, she learned to speak, to walk, to write simple words, to ride a bicycle, and even drive a car with a manual transmission. Angie loved people, music, dancing, playing the guitar, riding her large tricycle, Elvis, and Tom Selleck. Angie always had a smile on her face and a hug for everyone she met.
Angie will be greeted in heaven by her parents, her aunt Carlota M. Rodriguez, and her nephew Silverio Martinez, III.
Her life will be celebrated by her sisters: Rosa Goode, Sylvia Martinez (Gonzalo Ruiz), Dora Martinez, Juanita "Janie" Bernal, and Alicia (Filiberto) Tijerina all of Kingsville; Norma Martinez of Bishop; her brothers: Silverio (Diana) Martinez, Jr. of Kirtland, New Mexico, and Antonio "Tony" (Debbie) Martinez of Blanco. Angie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and great nieces.
The Martinez family would like to offer special thanks to Angie's providers, Lillian Bernal and Delia Rangel, Dr. Robert Morales for directing her care, and the nurses of Kingsville Hospice.
