Angelica D. Barrera, 78, a beloved lifelong resident of Kingsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 1, 1946, in Kingsville, Angelica was the cherished daughter of Conrado and Petra De la Paz. With a heart rooted in faith, family, and service, she dedicated her life to supporting and uplifting others. She retired as an administrative assistant from the Texas Department of Child Protective Services, where she was known for her professionalism, compassion, and dedication. Earlier in her career, she also worked at Texas A&I University.
Angelica was a devoted member of St. Martin's Catholic Church and a woman of deep faith. Her greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved. Whether vacationing with family, gathering for celebrations, or simply enjoying a good meal out, Angelica's warmth and presence made every moment special. Above all, she treasured her role as a grandmother, finding endless delight in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Conrado De La Paz Jr., and her sister, Irma Olivarez.
Angelica leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Ascencio C. Barrera Jr., of Kingsville; three devoted daughters, Glenda C. (William) Cuellar of San Antonio, Annette B. (Justin) Bridges of Fort Worth, and Amy (Ceasar) Alarcon of Fort Worth; eight adored grandchildren—Brandon, Clarissa, Cory, Ryan, Andrea, Bryn, Chelsea, and Ceasar "C.J." Jr.; five great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy; one beloved sister, Dora D. (Israel) Gonzalez of Corpus Christi; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends who will remember her with affection and admiration.
Family and friends are invited to honor Angelica's life on Monday, June 30, 2025, with a visitation from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church with Father Alfredo Villarreal officiating. She will be laid to rest at Chamberlain Cemetery.
Angelica's legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
