Amaro Lugo Alvarez, 84, of Bishop, TX passed away November 16, 2016 in Corpus Christi, TX.
He was born on August 2, 1932 in Bishop, TX to Jesus and Concepcion Alvarez.
He was a retired truck driver with Nelson Texaco. He was a lifetime member of St. James Catholic Church in Bishop, and was a former member of the St. James Mutualistas. He was also an original member of the Bishop Baseball League.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jesusa Alvarez, and Maria Solis; two brothers, Jose Alvarez, and Edmundo Alvarez.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dorothy L. Alvarez of Bishop; two daughters, Veronica (Nolan) Smith of Bishop and Rosalinda Solis of New Braunfels, TX; two sons, Joe (Melissa) Alvarez of Bishop, and Mario Alvarez of Corpus Christi; two brothers, Romeo (Gloria) Alvarez of Bishop, and Jesse (Alice) Alvarez of Bishop; two sisters, Linda Solis of Bishop, and JoAnn (Albert) Samora of Bishop; sixteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, 11-18-2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church.
A Rosary will be held on Friday, 11-18-2016 at 7:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, 11-19-2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Bishop, TX with Father John Xavier officiating.
Burial will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Bishop, TX
