Obituary

Alicia Mendietta Castro, 81, a lifelong resident of Kingsville, Texas, entered eternal rest on December 9, 2024.
Alicia was born to Seferino and Victoria Mendietta, February 4, 1943, in Kingsville, Texas. After spending her childhood and completing her education on the King Ranch she went on to pursue a career in nursing. She began her 42-year career with Kleberg County Hospital on the medical-surgical floor where she was affectionally known as Mendy. She cared for many during her years there and through the transition to the new hospital, Christus Spohn Hospital - Kleberg, where she retired from in 2006.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gilbert Castro, siblings and in-laws, Arnoldo and Eleanor Mendietta, Armando and Alicia Mendietta, Arcelia and Nazario Muñoz, Jr and niece Melissa Mendietta.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Alfredo and Hilda Mendietta. Alicia was cherished and an influential presence in the lives of her nieces: Norma Muñoz and Kristina Muñoz-Rubio and their children Elizabeth Stokes, Jacob and Joshua Davila, Tristian and Adriel Jimenez and Jacklyn Rubio offering love, guidance and unwavering support throughout her years. Her legacy will live on through all her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
We would like to express our gratitude to those at KNRC who helped us throughout the last few months to care for Alicia and to the Christus Spohn Hospital-Kingsville ICU staff who cared for one of their own with such compassion and kindness, we are forever grateful.
